A Cheerful Hand of Help

Dear Beloved in the Lord,

Greetings.

(Note: This is a personal letter shared with a few close friends like you. I’m using this format simply for convenience—rather than circulating documents—and to make it easier to share feedback and updates.)

I am writing to share a prayer concern involving a very close family friend who has been intimately associated with us for many years.

This brother and his wife—both professionally qualified—responded to the call of the Lord and stepped into full-time ministry 46 years ago. Over these four decades, they have been a blessing to thousands. They lived by faith, served sacrificially, and never raised funds for their personal needs. Their lives reflect integrity, simplicity, and a deep trust in God.

They have children, all married, who are currently supporting the household expenses in the city. The family lives in their own home.

Recently, this dear brother (whom I will refer to as JTH) has undergone a series of medical tests and examinations and has now been diagnosed with a Grade Four illness. While the treatment has not yet fully begun, the family has already incurred significant expenses for tests and evaluations. This has been an emotionally and financially overwhelming season for them.

At this critical juncture, we earnestly seek your prayers—that the Lord will carry him through the treatment, grant strength to endure the challenges ahead, and bring sustenance, deliverance, and restoration to the family.

As I participate in whatever way I can, I am also requesting you to join me—first in prayer, and, if you feel led, in extending practical support to help meet the medical expenses as a token of our fellowship with this dear family.

I have taken this initiative personally and without the family’s knowledge at this stage, to mobilize some immediate partial support. I will not be receiving any money but would get the details for you when ready. My role is only to coordinate this effort and to ensure that any support received is used solely toward the medical needs and that the effort is paused at a point.

If you feel led to participate—whether in prayer alone or also through giving—please let me know your willingness, and I will get back to you personally with further specific details.

Scripture encourages us:

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
— 2 Corinthians 9:7

And Jesus Himself said:

“Truly I tell you, whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple will certainly not lose their reward.”
— Matthew 10:42

Thank you for standing with this family in prayer, compassion, and obedience to the Lord’s leading. May the Lord guide each of us as we respond according to the grace He has given.

Yours in the Lord,

Philipose
